Craving is part of life, at some level essential for survival. There is a continuum of craving for substances (drugs, drink, food) and experiences (work, gambling, sex) that at the extreme can lead to unhealthy behavior and to addiction. It’s hard for many of us to control these cravings, and the moralistic judgments our society places on people who can’t manage their cravings doesn’t help.
