Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life
The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (LCUUF) values the lives of its members and friends and appreciates the opportunities it has to celebrate their passing.
Unitarian Universalist services vary according to the wishes of the family or the deceased. The minister and/or the LCUUF Care Team will meet with family and friends of the deceased to plan the service. Services are usually either memorial services, which have a spiritual aspect, or celebrations of life, which center on guests’ reminiscences of the deceased.
Services and celebrations for members and friends of LCUUF may be conducted free of charge, although nominal charges may be associated with the use of LCUUF space. Fees may be waived in the event of hardship.
Requests for services for non-members will be considered on a case-by-case basis, as will requests for officiants other the LCUUF minister. Fees for services for non-members will be discussed with the family.
The service might include the following elements:
- A eulogy
- Poems and other readings
- Prayer or meditation
- A time to remember the deceased with stories and memories
- Hymn singing or other music
- A time for personal reflection
If you would like to have our minister preside over a life celebration or other memorial service, please contact LCUUF.
